EPA ANNOUNCEMENT
On July 7, 2020, the Environmental Protection Agency took action to expedite the use of electrostatic sprayers to more effectively treat large indoor spaces. “Cleaning and disinfecting surfaces continues to be an effective way to reduce the spread of the virus,” said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler. “With this guidance, EPA is ensuring offices, schools, and local governments have access to as many effective and approved surface disinfectant products as possible—including those designed to disinfect large indoor spaces.” Electrostatic spraying has drawn increased interest through the public health emergency because of the need to disinfect large indoor spaces (e.g., schools, offices, businesses) or areas with many surfaces. Unlike conventional spraying methods, electrostatic sprayers apply a positive charge to liquid disinfectants as they pass through the nozzle. The positively charged disinfectant is attracted to negatively charged surfaces, which allows for efficient coating of hard nonporous surfaces.
THE BENEFITS OF ELECTROSTATIC SPRAYING, ESPECIALLY DURING COVID-19
We are surrounded by viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew and other pathogens. Harmful pathogens can live on surfaces for days, and will potentially double every 20 minutes, or less, given the right food source and ambient temperature. Left alone, these colonies are a major source of cross contamination between periods of spot disinfection. Our individual immune response systems aren’t always equipped to fight off the potentially deadly consequences of exposure to these pathogens. Zetrisil® based products, applied with an electrostatic sprayer, give you an opportunity to be proactive in preventing unwanted exposures, by continuously eliminating the opportunity for viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew and other pathogens to colonize and grow on treated surfaces. As a building owner or property manager, you’ve probably had to make some hard decisions lately about how to protect your staff, customers and facility because of COVID-19. We can help you with best practices on how to disinfect your facility – not only for COVID-19, but for all pathogens and possible pandemics in the future. Between salmonella, E.coli, MRSA, norovirus, influenza, EBOLA, CDIFF and human coronavirus, it’s clear why wiping down surfaces isn’t enough anymore.

BENEFITS OF ZETRISIL®
Zetrisil® is safe for sensitive porous and non-porous surfaces (including equipment and electronics). It will not fade fabrics, degrade adhesives or corrode metals. Zetrisil® is a proprietary compound backed by over 10 years of research and development, to provide long term duration kill, with faster kill times and more effective kill rates. Our FDA and EPA registered products incorporating Zetrisil® are non-toxic, non-transdermal and safe for long-term usage. If you are concerned about the safety and efficacy of the products you are currently using, we can provide you antimicrobial products, backed by extensive independent third party testing, for superior safety, kill effectiveness, kill duration and kill time. Continuous disinfection is always superior to spot disinfection.
WHY ELECTROSTATIC SPRAYING IS BEST METHOD FOR DISINFECTION
Traditional wiping methods with cleaning solutions are a great first step in disinfecting, but it is virtually impossible to disinfect every square inch of surface area in a building this way. Is it prohibitively expensive in terms of labor, and it is impossible in terms of time available to reach every square inch of potentially infected surface. In reality, germs and bacteria spread into hard-to-reach surfaces faster than we can clean them. In fact, colony-forming units of bacteria and viruses are hiding in many areas that we cannot access with current methodologies and equipment.
Electrostatic spray disinfection is accomplished with a specialized sprayer that uses an electrode to positively charge our Zetrisil® based disinfectant. This disinfectant is then applied to surfaces via a very fine mist. The minute, positively charged particles in the mist repel each other, helping the spray to cover its intended surfaces thoroughly and completely. This means you’ll get safe, thorough coverage – without clumping or over-spraying. It also means you’ll be able to coat (and therefore disinfect) tight spaces and those areas that are out of your line of sight. The positively charged particles of the disinfectant in the sprayer seek out and cling to negatively charged, or grounded, surfaces (which is basically every surface in a hospital room, office, food service facility, etc). The expanding, electro-charged mist is able to penetrate hard-to-reach areas and literally wrap around its intended targets, regardless of the direction from which the spray emanates. This creates a more even and complete coat of our Zetrisil® based disinfectant, immediately killing pathogens on the surface and providing a continuous 99.99% effective killing rate for 28 days against the more than 45 pathogens we have been tested against.
Imagine trying to apply a disinfecting solution to all the nooks and crannies that exist in a hospital, including wheelchairs, walkers, beds and other medical equipment. Additionally, let’s take a look at offices, which is another critical cleaning environment. There are a vast number of hard-to-reach areas that are potentially covered in pathogenic bacteria, like keyboards, phones, and desks — just to name a few. Remember that we are disinfecting to have a positive impact on workplace absenteeism as well as the overall health of a facility. Electrostatic sprayers are far more efficient than a spray bottle or a cloth when applied by a professional. And the coverage that they provide is much less prone to human error than other methods. Because of the way the spray wraps around and coats surfaces, it’s possible to disinfect areas that no other method can reach. There is no other cleaning method that can coat surfaces so evenly or so completely.
RJM SERVICES – WHAT WE DO
If you decide to use the electrostatic disinfecting spray services of our affiliate, RJM Services, your RJM Services account manager will discuss your specific cleaning and disinfection goals with you and ask discovery questions that help us define a custom solution that will meet the unique needs of your location. We will identify the approximate coverage area [square feet] as well as high frequency touchpoints that are to be treated with Zetrisil® based disinfectants and antimicrobial technology. Upon request, we can select priority areas (based on the size of your facility and the surface requirements) for a swab test using a ATP surface test to determine the contamination level and establish a baseline. Periodically, as requested, we can revisit the selected priority areas and test again with ATP surface swab tests to determine that the contamination level has sufficiently dropped and falls within EPA guidelines.
We will provide you with a Zetrisil® Certificate which certifies that you have received professionally applied Zetrisil® anti-microbial protection that can provide 99.99% or higher protection for 28 days. The Certificate is suitable for affixing to your entry doors and can be displayed in public to assure your employees and customers that you are providing the very best anti-microbial protection that is available. The effective through date is updated with each services.
