A pathogen is an organism that causes disease. Your body is naturally full of microbes. However, these microbes only cause a problem if your immune system is weakened or if they manage to enter a normally sterile part of your body. Pathogens are different and can cause disease upon entering the body. All a pathogen needs to thrive and survive is a host. Once the pathogen sets itself up in a host’s body, it manages to avoid the body’s immune responses and uses the body’s resources to replicate before exiting and spreading to a new host. Pathogens can be transmitted a few ways depending on the type. They can be spread through skin contact, bodily fluids, airborne particles, contact with feces, and touching a surface touched by an infected person. It is estimated that another 1.7 million currently ‘undiscovered’ viruses exist in mammals and birds – of which up to 850,000 could have the ability to infect people.

What is the Comprehensive Pathogen Protection Program [CPPP]?

The Comprehensive Pathogen Protection Program [CPPP] is a protocol designed to create overlapping layers of protection from exposure to pathogens. There are three layers. They are (1) personal/individual; (2) living/work space; and (3) outside threats. These layers, or zones of safety, are created to significantly minimize risks of exposure and take into account the Means of Transmission for most pathogens. Why Do you need a Comprehensive Pathogen Protection Program ?

It is imperative that we change the way we deal with infectious disease. It is past time to migrate from a defensive, reactive posture to an offensive, preventative posture. Future pandemics may emerge more often, spread more rapidly, do more damage to the world economy and kill more people than COVID-19. Economically, COVID-19 has been devastating. It is estimated that costs in the United States alone may reach as high as $16 trillion by the 4th quarter of 2021. Experts estimate the cost of reducing risks to prevent pandemics to be 100 times less than the cost of responding to such pandemics, thus providing strong economic incentives for transformative change. Even without pandemics, however, consider that the estimated average annual total economic burden of just influenza alone to the healthcare system and society in the United States is $11.2 billion. These total costs are based on the estimated average numbers of ill non-medically attended patients, office-based outpatient visits, emergency department visits, hospitalizations, deaths and days of lost productivity. Level 2 Protection: Living/Work Space Zone of Safety.

Your primary objective with Level 2 protocols is to sanitize and disinfect your living/workspace environment to prevent the opportunity for viruses, bacteria, mold and mildew to colonize on porous and nonporous surfaces that surround you. These protocols will minimize the risk of transmission when touching porous and nonporous surfaces by preventing pathogens from colonizing in the first place. Electrostatically Spray The Intake Air Vent Of The Central Air System with My-Shield® Broad Spectrum Disinfectant to coat the air ducts and form a positively charged layer of antimicrobial nanoparticles on all inner surfaces through which air must pass. Install an air purifier. A Comprehensive Pathogen Protection Program would not be complete without addressing the air, in addition to surfaces. Most air purifiers are passive, and treat the air that is channeled through them by physically removing particles of a given size, precipitating particles out of the air through ionization or killing some germs with an ultraviolet light. Historically, the most common Types of Air Purifiers have employed the use of HEPA filters, activated charcoal filters, electrostatic filters, UV light, and negative ION devices. HEPA filters, activated carbon filters and electrostatic filters in Air Purifiers do not kill viruses, bacteria, mold or mildew. And the killing effectiveness of ultraviolet light is highly dependent on sufficient exposure time to the light.

To solve this problem, we recommend treating air purifier filters with My-shield® Broad Spectrum Disinfectant, with Zetrisil®, to kill viruses, bacteria, mold and mildew that pass through a new filter or become trapped in a dirty filter near the end of its life cycle.

Negative ION Air Purifiers have a negative ion device which electrify molecules in the air. The negatively charged molecules bind themselves to particles in the air such as viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew and dust and electrostatically attracts them to a positively charged surfaces. By this action, the negative ION air purifier increases the rate of precipitation and reduces the number of these particles in the air. This significantly reduces the airborne transmission of viruses, bacteria, mold and mildew from airborne pathogens in enclosed spaces. But this process does not kill viruses, bacteria, mold and mildew; it only pushes them to the floor, walls and other positively charged surfaces.
